Mail From Junior Club Captain Plus Funderland Competition!

Our Junior Club members got a special email from Dave ‘Killer’ Kilcoyne before the team broke for their summer holidays.

Our Junior Club members got a special email from Dave ‘Killer’ Kilcoyne before the team broke for their summer holidays.

Hi All,

Junior Club Captain Dave Kilcoyne here! I hope you are all well and looking forward to the summer holidays. We are rounding up our season here in Munster camp but Aled Walters, our Head of Fitness, isn’t letting us slack off at all. Training will stay at the same high intensity until the end of this month and most of the squad are off for June! I think we are all looking forward to some time to relax after what has been a real rollercoaster of a season!

Did you manage to make any of our last few games? Our two final games were really tough, must-win games in terms of qualifying for Champions Cup rugby next season but thankfully we dug deep and came out with the win in both. This was in no small part down to you guys and all our other supporters who came out in Irish Independent Park against Edinburgh and Thomond Park against Scarlets and you all drove us on to victory by cheering and shouting. When the going gets tough we can count on you guys to stand behind us and play your part and that means more than you know!

You might have heard that I got the call up to the Ireland Squad that is heading to South Africa next month, I only got the call this week so I am very excited to go and represent my country. Pulling on that green jersey is a real acheivement so I am buzzing to get over there and make an impact, I will be counting on you guys to cheer me on!

I hope some of you will be able to make the Munster Rugby Summer Camps we will be running over the summer, they’re a great way to meet people and learn great new skills. I’ll definitely make one or two when I'm back to make sure the members are representing the Junior Club properly 🙂

Anyway I better go, our Nutritionist Catherine Norton is calling us for lunch, and there’s no way I’m missing that! Stay safe, have a great summer and speak to you again in pre-season! I hear Donners (Donncha O’Callaghan) will be over with his new club Worcester Warriors in August – that should be fun and I know he’ll be looking forward to running out in Cork. I hope to see you there to cheer us on while giving Donners a big Munster welcome home.
