Darragh’s Day As Mascot

My name is Darragh Humphreys and I was the mascot for Munster at the Heineken Cup semi-final against Toulon in Marseilles.

My name is Darragh Humphreys and I was the mascot for Munster at the Heineken Cup semi-final against Toulon in Marseilles.

My uncle Mikey entered me in a competition and I was very lucky to win. I was very excited when I found out and I could barely even sleep that night. I was awake so early the next day with excitement and I could not wait to go to the airport to get on the plane. When we got to the airport I was presented with my kit by the Munster captain Peter O Mahoney. I also got to meet a lot of the Munster players and I liked it so much. I was on the same plane as the team going to the game too.

On the day of the game myself and my uncle Mikey went to the stadium early to get ready, it was very loud in the stadium but it was brilliant fun as I also got to meet some of the players again. I also got to go into the Munster dressing room for a few minutes which was brilliant, to see what the players do before a game to get ready. I then waited at the end of the tunnel for the teams to come out and then the captain for the game Damian Varley ran on to the field holding my hand. The noise from the fans in the stadium was so loud but it was brilliant to be on the same field as the Munster team.

We watched the game and Munster lost which was sad, but I have to say it was one of the best days I ever had. I want to say thank you for picking me to lead the Munster team. It was so cool.
