"I was so overjoyed when I heard I won the Junior Club mascot competition that I cried with excitement. This was going to be a dream come true to meet my favourite players at such an important match.
On the day I had to go to two communions, but all I could think about was being ready for the match. We arrived early at Thomond Park to hang out in the fan zone and play. I got a programme for the captain to sign and I was thrilled to see my picture in it.
I met Kerry in the Munster Rugby shop and quickly changed into the match gear. I got the full kit and looked really cool. Kerry brought me and my Dad into the dressing rooms while the team were warming up. It was amazing to get my pictures with all the players jerseys while Kerry told me interesting stories about some of the player’s superstitions and their lucky charms.
When the team came back in Zebo came up to me and told me he knew I was his favourite player. I was so happy!
Walking down the tunnel was unbelievable and I was honoured to hold Peter O Mahony’s hand and lead my team to the final. The match was super good and when Simon scored his try I loved his victory dance which we later performed together in the dressing rooms!!
All the players were so nice and they all signed my jersey and let my Dad take loads of pictures. The best part was when Simon gave me his match jersey signed, which I will hang proud in my room.
My friends are so jealous and they even saw me on the 9 o’clock news!! Thank you Elaine, Kerry and the MRSC Junior Club for the most amazing experience of my life! I love being a Munster Junior Club member and I am confident that we will be champions of the Guinness Pro 12 Final next weekend!"
Though this was the last of our Mascot competitions for this season we will have lots more competitions to come over the summer and into next season so keep an eye on your emails. If you have any drawings or photographs that you would like to send into the team post them to Junior Club, Irish Independent Park, Tramore Road, Cork or email juniorclub@munsterrugby.ie
