12 lucky Junior Members will be flag bearers in our official Match Day Guard of Honour at Munster v Leinster after entering the competition in a recent Junior Club mail from Captain Dave Kilcoyne.
The winners will be on the pitch as the Munster and Leinster teams take to the field ahead of kick off, playing an important role in the match day tradition.
Our winners are as follows, if you are at the match on St Stephen's Day make sure to give them an extra big cheer!
Euan McGowan
Tara Quaid
Michael Dore
Eoghan Crowley
Ava Flavin
Lee Kiely
Dylan Slattery
Aine Quaid
Luke Courtney
Amelia Hardiman
John Ryan
Ciaran Cronin
While we could only pick 12 we had some fantastic entries from our Junior Members ranging from pictures to poems – we have featured some of these below.
Culann Finn from Cork drew this fantastic match scene – we are sure all the supporters in the stand are being silent for the big kick!
Tyler Kelly from Limerick sent us in this wonderful poem:
As we begin these important games
No excuses don't be lame
Munster warriors come out and fight
Make us all proud on the night
If yee could ask Santa one wish
It would be to let Axel see us win this
So take your passion skills and pride
And know that junior MRSC are on your side
Dylan Slattery drew his favourite Munster Player Ian Keatley!
Alex Harris who plays for Shannon RFC also sent us in a wonderful poem:
When I'm asleep and in my bed
I dream I'm in a sea of red
Not surrounded by water you see
More like Zebo or Earls Maybe
If I could raise that flag up high
I reach it to the Christmas sky
I'd make a wish to win the game
And live up to the Munster name……
Euan McGowan from Clare drew this fantastic mid match snapshot from Thomond Park
Eric Hardiman, age 11 drew us this brilliant self portrait of him at Thomond Park
These 5 Munster and brothers and sisters could have nearly been the Guard of Honour by themselves!
You want a Guard of Honour
Flag bearers and all
I have girls and boys
From small to tall
All up to the task
Just waiting for you to ask
To stand on the field
To show their Munster shield
The war is beginning its time to fight
These are the soldiers of Munsters might.
Stand one stand all
From shore to shore
Its time to hear the Munster ROAR
Don't worry if you did not win this time, we will have plenty more Junior Club competitions coming up over the next couple of weeks – keep an eye out for the Junior Club emails! We would like to take this opportunity to wish all of our Junior Club members a very happy Christmas and a safe and healthy 2017.
