London Branch AGM

A successful AGM was held at Rudds, the London Branch central match venue last month.

A successful AGM was held at Rudds, the London Branch central match venue last month.

What started off as a challenging 2013-14 season, in terms of finding an appropriate match day venue, emerged as a successful one as a record 190 people travelled in four coaches to the crucial Heineken Cup win at Gloucester. A successful partnership was established with Rudds – a venue the Branch hope will become a long term home. Also, thanks to the hard work of the London Branch supporters, new North and South London match day venues at The Crown Moran Hotel in Cricklewood and Gipsy Hill Tavern respectively, were unveiled. London continues to go from strength to strength as a Branch, with almost 1,400 Facebook likes and over 800 Twitter followers, why not join them?

Chairman Jay Briganti outlined a number of statistics on the important contribution the MRSC makes to Munster rugby, while also detailing key figures from the main Munster Branch AGM. As they close a hugely encouraging fourth season as a branch, the members reflected on the huge growth of the organisation, looked forward to developing some exciting projects next year, while thanking everyone who has contributed this year.

To facilitate the expected growth for the coming season, the structure of the committee will be adjusted. Those members who have kindly offered to act as “general helpers” will be part of a sub-committee led by the new in-coming Social Secretary Joanne Kirby. Jay Briganti will continue as Branch Chair, Ciara Lillis as Vice-Chair with Lisa Coomey remaining as Development Officer and Gerard Butler as Secretary. The committee also welcomes Peter Scanlon as Treasurer and Ruth Kirby as PRO. Special thanks were given to outgoing committee members Deirdre Nugent, Katherine Scanlon and Kevin O’Connor, some of whom have been with the Branch since the very first meeting back in the Irish club.

With two European games in England, including London, the Branch looks forward to welcoming everyone to Rudds, or seeing you all on the trips and events that will be arranged during the upcoming season.

For anyone who couldn’t make the AGM and would like to be part of the General Help sub-committee this season, you can still email mrsclondon@munsterrugby.ie.
