MRSC Meeting Points & Leicester Guide 2017

Munster play Leicester Tigers in Round 4 of Pool 1 in the European Champions Cup on Sunday 17th of December in Welford Road, hoping to go one better than last season and take a victory home.

We hope that this guide will give you some useful links and tips to make your weekend more enjoyable.

The MRSC have organised three official meeting points for this game, within 5 minutes of each other and 15 minutes of Welford Road.

Hogarths, 5-9 Hotel Street, Leicester

Hogarths will once again welcome Munster Supporters and will have a number of specials for Munster Rugby Supporters over the weekend as they did last season.

The Bowling Green Bar, 44 Oxford Street

The Bowling Green will also have a number of offers for Munster Supporters all weekend, a  friendly venue frequented by many Munster Supporters over the years.

The Bowling Green is 5 minutes walk from Welford Road and is a popular venue for Leicester Tigers supporters also. They offer a very good menu and 2 for 1 deals on food, with a wide range of offers on beverages also.

The Distillery, 27 Market Street

Newly opened, the Distillery is from the same group as The Bowling Green and is family friendly also.

Our History

For the 2017/2018 Champions Cup Munster once again are drawn against one of the traditional powerhouse of English Rugby “Leicester Tigers”

Our history in these fixtures across the years range from the infamous “Hand of Back” to “ROG in the Rain” to last year’s back to back home victories for the teams and not forgetting Saturdays great performance by our Team in Thomond

Getting There

By Plane
All airports in London, Birmingham and Luton have frequent connections to Leicester by rail, bus, by transfer or direct means.

By Train 

  • Leicester lies on the London-Sheffield and the Birmingham-Stansted lines
  • Approximate journey-times and frequencies of trains are:
  • From London (St Pancras station):70-90 minutes/four times an hour
  • From Birmingham (New Street station): 60 minutes/twice an hour
  • From Luton (Airport Parkway station): 60 minutes/hourly
  • From Stansted Airport: 2 hours 30 minutes/approximately hour

Getting to the Stadium

  • Welford Road is situated at Aylestone Road, Leicester, LE2 7TR. It is within walking distance of the city centre (15-20 minutes).

From London Road Railway Station:

London Road Railway Station is a 15 minute walk from the stadium. Upon arrival turn right out of the station, cross the road, turn left on to Waterloo Way, continue to the top of the hill onto Tigers Way and Welford Road is directly in front
