The MRSC Committee are back to fill you in on the latest from behind the scenes at the Munster Rugby Supporters Club…

Dear Members,

As we close out on the compressed block of games over the past few months we look back with a sense of pride on the performance of the Munster squad as a whole so far this season; from the gruelling but wildly successful European exploits, to our A team progressing to the quarter finals of the B&I Cup. The number of MRSC members that travel to the various games both home and away will always make a difference to the teams as they take to the field and such continuous, consistent attendances allows us to carry the “16th Man” tagline confidently.

Those of you that were present at the Racing 92 game who were kind enough to give some of your time to the pre-match Sky Sports live broadcast in our bar we thank you. For those of you that made the time to await the arrival of the Racing and Munster coaches to the ground, we thank you again. This was a really amazing welcome for both teams and a fantastic thing to be part of as supporters.

We also had the annual visit (some would say pilgrimage) from 35 members of our USA Branch to Thomond Park, who, along with our many Parisian friends, partied the post-match night away to the sound of live music in the MRSC bar following the Racing 92 game. Members of these groups also participated in the on field flag bearing “Guard of Honour” which as you can imagine will leave a long lasting, indelible mark in their memories as both teams came out to the sight and sound of such support from the 26,200 strong crowd.

We place a lot of emphasis on making travelling supporters feel welcome at Munster games with the MRSC Committee in communication with our peers in visiting clubs before games to make their visit as enjoyable as possible. The Racing 92 supporters were just amazed at the welcome they received; see below a comment from Pascal Able from the Racing 92 Supporters Club:

“I have heard for a long time about the Red Army; the passion, friendship and rugby knowledge of the supporters of Munster Rugby, now I understand. Last weekend’s visit is something my friends and I will never forget”

Thank you too to Robin Copeland and Darren Sweetnam for spending time in the MRSC bar on Saturday and Munster Rugby for allotting player time at all games so far this season.

Next Thursday, 9th Feb we will have a great intimate opportunity to get to know our Director of Rugby 'Rassie' in a members only Q&A session in Irish Independent Park. Tickets for this were booked out in just over an hour so we hope that those of you lucky enough to get tickets enjoy the exclusive event.

We look forward to seeing you at the Q&A and the upcoming Dragons game in Cork, please continue to ask any questions or send in your accounts of recent matches and experiences to supporterspro@munsterrugby.ie.

Kind regards,
Your MRSC Committee
