A snapshot of some of the events, activities, competitions and more run by the MRSC Committee and Staff over the course of the 2015/16 Season.

Did You Know….??

  • At 16 games this season members of the MRSC were waiting inside the turnstiles to hand you a Munster Flag before kick off (8000 flags given away this season alone). Not only this, MRSC members had large flags and banners in place for all of Munster’s home games.
  • We held a pre match lunch for 90 members ahead of Munster v Leicester Tigers where €;1500 was raised for the Irish Cancer Association and a further €;250 was raised in the MRSC bar for Milford Hospice – A big thank you for those who attended for your generosity
  • MRSC Mascot Oscar was present and accounted for at all home games. However on one occasion we had a special stand in for the man behind the suit when the sister of a player filled in for him!
  • We had a very special and memorable Q&A session with Paul O’Connell in Irish Independent Park attended by 110 members – this event came about through a special request from the Munster legend to the to say goodbye and thank you to the members of the Supporters Club
  • Meeting points, offers and events were organized by our committee and members in the various European Away games.
  • We ran many competitions for members with some great prizes. Most noteably one lucky MRSC member had the honour of hanging the teams’ jerseys in their dressing room before a European Cup game and received CJ Stander’s jersey signed by the Captain after the match.
  • Ten Junior Club members got to live the dream of working behind the scenes at two Munster games in Thomond Park and Irish Independent Park in a variety of positions from ‘Oscars Helper’ to ‘Communications Assistant’ as winners of our “Job For A Day” competitions.
  • Thanks to Guinness, the Munster Fan Bus was back on the road!  We organised free travel from Limerick to Cork and vice versa for games in Thomond Park and Irish Independent Park for our members.
  • Our Junior Club Christmas Party in Thomond Park was attended by 300 children and 14 Munster players. Not only this, after the event Santa himself and his many helpers declared themselves as MRSC Members!
  • Our Junior Members have received hundreds of signed personal birthday cards from our Junior Club Captains Keith Earls (2015) and Dave Kilcoyne (2016)
  • On eight separate occasions over the course of the season Munster squad members visited the MRSC bar to meet and greet members including the recent visit by CJ, who contacted us specifically to see if he could spend time with the supporters to say thank you.
  • The Supporters Club was present at the recent Munster Rugby open day in IIP where we had a great turn out and held a very successful egg and spoon race (even if there was a bit of cheating by Keith Earls!) Some lucky Junior Club members even got to take home the actual training kit the players had worn that day!
  • Our Smithwicks sponsored #6CountyQuiz has been a resounding success so far with the Grand Final being held in May to crown the smartest provincial team in Munster! Over €;1500 was raised for two of Munster Rugby’s chosen charities, Headway and CMRF Crumlin, thanks to your participation.
  • Finally, your Committee held a meeting each month over the season which included sub committees to progress items such as renewal approach and costs for next season, player access to members, benefits to members and events throughout the season to name but a few.

If you have any queries, ideas, suggestions or questions for the MRSC about any of the above, the season just gone or the season to come please feel free to contact us at mrsc@munsterrugby.ie.
