Entertaining Evening At Cork Q&a

Members braved the torrential rain yesterday evening to turn up for what was a very entertaining Q&A in the South County Bar, Douglas, with Simon Zebo, Simon Mannix and Frankie Sheahan. Munster Rugby Media Manager Pat Geraghty was MC and kicked off the evening by asking Simon Zebo if he is recognised more since his hat trick in Northampton? Simon – "I suppose I am alright but to be fair people leave you to get on with what you are doing and don’t approach you too often". Frankie was asked if he found it difficult to be critical on air of his former coach "I worked with Declan for a long time and we get on really well, but there’s a time when things need to move on, on TV the other night I suppose if I was to back away and not be critical of him, I’d have been doing him and myself an injustice. I just hope that he is remembered for the good work he did both with Munster and Ireland. Myself and Simon Mannix know how tough coaching can be, we look after Cork Con u7s !! Zebo was asked "Simon, if you were never to touch the ball again as a winger for the rest of the season and Munster win a Heineken Cup, would it bother you"? Simon was very definate in his reply "not in the slightest". "As a coach Simon Mannix, same question, but would you want it won in style or does it matter"? "That’s a tough one, for me I will answer it in two parts. As a coach, do you want to be known as the coach who coached a South African team to win a World Cup playing boring rugby or be the coach that coached the All Blacks to freeflowing attractive rugby only to fall at the last hurdle…. for me it would be the latter. However, here with Munster, I don’t care how we win a Heineken Cup, as long as we win the damn thing!" Members enjoyed a free drink on arrival and Heineken were on hand with plenty of goodies to give away. jk 220313
