Brussels Branch Annual Dinner With Special Guest Alan Quinlan
14th February 2012 By Munster Rugby Supporters Club
The second Annual Dinner of the MRSC Brussels Branch, held on Thursday 9 February, was an outstanding success. Alan Quinlan was the star attraction and his presence as guest speaker ensured a sell-out evening. Following a welcoming aperitif, Chairman Frank Wall delivered a special message from Ger Harrington who wished the guests a fantastic night. And indeed a great night followed! Alan mingled and chatted with the guests between courses and then entertained us with a lively and interesting address on his rugby career. Of particular interest was his account of his early education in Munster rugby; survival from those established professors, Gaillimh and the Claw. Following some questions from the floor Alan drew the wining tickets for the evening’s draw and presented the prizes to the lucky winners. The formal side of the evening drew to a close with a rendition of "There Is An Isle" led by Mick Collins and the first public performance of "O’Gara’s Drop Goals" penned by Frank Wall. The revellers then moved on to Kitty O’Sheas for more conversation and entertainment which lasted well into the night. The demand for more of the same next year is already well noted and ideas are floating to keep the flag flying. Valerie O’Leary 14 Feb 2012
