Caoimhe Ryan – My Day As Mascot

MRSC Junior Member, Caoimhe Ryan won the opportunity to be match day mascot for the Munster v Northampton game in Thomond Park on Saturday 12th November, by renewing her MRSC membership during the month of October. She has taken the time to send a story about her day as mascot…. "One day I came home from my Aunts house and my Daddy told me I was going to be the Munster mascot. I was so excited … I couldn’t wait for Saturday to come! On the day of the match, I travelled to Limerick with my family. At 5 o’clock we went to Thomond Park to get kitted out … then we went down to the players dressing room, where we met Peter Stringer and got our picture taken. A few minutes later I met Donnacha Ryan, Tomas O’Leary and Paul O’Connell (the captain). I had "the hebegibies", not just because it was freezing, but I was a tiny bit scared! Paul O’Connell grabbed my hand, I was so excited to be there!!! Suddenly the Munster call started, the drums were beating … like my heart! We ran out on to the pitch, it was so bright. Paul and I ran over to about 6 or 7 photographers and I had my photograph taken. Then, I was taken back to the stand where I watched the match with my family. In the end O’Gara did a drop goal, which was SAVAGE. The final score was Munster 23 – Northampton 21. We rushed back to the dressing room where I got my jersey signed by Donncha, Paul, Stringer, Ronan and the rest of the team. The manager said I was "the luckiest mascot of the day!!!" I was so stressed from all the shouting, screaming and cheering, so Mammy took us back to the hotel where we had a SWEET NIGHTS SLEEP." The End Valerie O’Leary 29/11/11
