Declan O’connell. R.i.p

Declan O’Connell Former Chairman of MRSC. February 1952 – September 2009. It is with great sadness that we learned of the passing of one of the driving forces and founding members of the Munster Rugby Supporters Club. Declan O’Connell presided as chairman of the Supporters Club in it’s early days , stepping down in 2004-2005 season. Declan was always vocal in support of Munster and indeed in support of the Supporters Club and it is due to his efforts in the early years, when numbers were low, that the club remained. Declan was also President and a tremendous clubman of Charleville R.F.C. There will be an empty space in Musgrave Park and Thomond Park this year; one that Declan filled joyfully for many years. He will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with Declan’s family and friends today. Removal from his residence this Wednesday evening at 8.30pm to Holy Cross Church, Charleville. Requiem Mass tomorrow, Thursday, at 12 noon, followed by cremation at the Island Crematorium, Ringaskiddy Jennifer and MRSC Committee
