Mrsc Candidates For Election 0910

Munster Rugby Supporters Club – Committee Candidates 2009/2010 All candidates to the Committee of the Munster Rugby Supporters Club have been invited to submit a brief outline of what they can bring to the committee. The Candidates are as follows Elaine Blackshields, Ian Buckley, Sean Collopy, Glenn Flanagan, Aoife Foley, Ger Harrington, Dom McNamara, Sean Meade, John O’Dell, Dan O’Sullivan and Noel Stewart The below submissions have been received by Jennifer Kiernan. Darren Desmond was the only nominee to the position of Hon.Secretary for the coming season. Elaine Blackshields From Cork but living in Clonmel.. In my time serving on the committee I have looked after the Junior club and we have seen membership grown from 400 to over 1200. In my current employment, being highly organised is an integral part of my day to day job and I feel this is very important to the MRSC. This, along with my drive and commitment, will help improve the Junior club for members next season. Ian Buckley Having been on the committee for a few seasons now, I feel that the experience gained on the committee is an excellent attribute. Should I be elected to sit with the next committee, my efforts will continue as they have done to date. Having held the offices of Hon. Secretary and Chairperson, I have built up very good relations with the members, Munster Rugby and opposition clubs and wish to continue to do so. I feel it is imperative that a sense of fun is also maintained within the club and to this end, I would like to see an end of season event introduced for members, similar to London Irish’s, St.Patricks festival. A fun day for our Junior Members and evening entertainment for our adult members, BBQ, Music etc .. I have organised and been involved in organising all of the supporters club events in the past few seasons, and enjoy doing so. Originally I took up the task of arranging the prematch lunches, mdiscount scheme and have been involved in all of the clubs activities to date. I have been part of the creation of our original website to the current, spearheaded Red Alert magazine along with Tony McGrath and continue to update the website on a daily basis. I have successfully worked on bringing new discount scheme providers and sponsors to the club, my background in customer service has assisted me and will aid me in delivering an excellent and friendly service to our members. Under the current committee I successfully worked to bring the reality that is the MRSC bar to where it is now, the opening of the bar and overseeing the decoration, fitout and ensuring that the bar is comfortable for members, has been my main task in the season past. I hope to continue to improve services within the bar . In that regard, along with the committee, I have built a very good relationship with the service providers in the bar. I believe that having the flexibility to give time as I have done, is essential, effectively working on the committee is working on call. I believe my drive, enthusiasm and organisational skills and willingness to give my time, will allow me to be an excellent candidate. Sean Collopy No submission Glenn Flanagan The whole ethos of the MRSC is to encourage and promote the support of all things Munster Rugby. Seeking re-election for the fifth year, I have seen the club grow from 1400 adult members to what it is today, with over 11000 Adult & Junior Members. I have served as PRO of the MRSC, and in this past year, I have served as Chairperson. I have been involved in Pre-Match Events, Player Nights, Junior Events, organising match day events. I also have attained extensive knowledge on how best the MRSC can work with Munster Rugby, but like everything else, there is always room for improvement. Aoife Foley I am a native of Cork City, lived in Dublin for 7 years and I have travelled a lot as part of work. I am a Civil Engineer. I am hardworking, fair and hopefully good fun. Obviously the nature of my work experience and training means that I am extremely organised, very computer literature and work very well with teams to deliver projects on time and to budget. Most importantly I am married to Martin Ryan (another full member). My main personal interests in life are my family, Munster Rugby (I am also amember of Cork Con but no I am not posh!), general sports (I
