Homecoming Parade – Cork

Below is a copy of the Press Release from Cork City Council with regard to the parade in Cork City Cork Homecoming of the Munster Rugby Team, Heineken Cup Winners 2005/2006 Tuesday the 23rd of May 2006. Cork City Council is delighted to facilitate the people of Cork in welcoming home the conquering heroes of Munster, Heineken Cup Winners 2005/2006 with an official welcoming celebration on a specially erected stage on the South Mall, Cork at its junction with Parnell Place. There will be entertainment from circa 7.00 p.m. onwards with the Team expected to arrive onstage at 8.00 p.m. Special video screens will be erected on the South Mall and at the junction of Maylor Street and Parnell Place to ease congestion at the stage. Major Diversions will be in place Tuesday from 4.30pm to 10.00pm to facilitate the Homecoming. All city centre routes will be affected by road closures. Diversions will be in place on city centre roads from 7.00pm on Tuesday. No entry signs will be in place from 7.00pm. Parnell Bridge (Northbound) will be closed from 4.30 pm. Cork City Council has arranged for the Black Ash Park and Ride to operate until 9.30pm. City Terminus will be at Eglinton Street instead of Lapp
