The original large flags and the banners (Go on Bull, Tis Your Field; Irish by Birth...etc) made their debut at the Heineken Cup Quarter Final in Thomond Park against Stad Francais in 2004.

In the interveing 5 years, they have been much travelled and have made appearances in very many grounds and even countries. As with us all, they are showing signs of wear and age. It has been necessary to arrange replacements and a dignified retirement.

Organised by our Flagmaster General, Robert Gloster, we are delighted that the new large flags have made their public appearance on O'Connell St. in Limerick with thanks to Brown Thomas and Debenhams and also at The Sin Bin

Hopefully these Giant Flags will add to the support of the team in the build-up to the match.

We hope, weather permitting to have some new banners on display at the match on Friday.

We acknowledge the expertise and patience of Sara Haggerty of Courtmac Graphicswith the artwork and layout for the flags and banners.

The banners and flags were manufactured by Flags & Flagpoles, a division of OneStopPromotions. We would very much like to thank Tim Turner for his efforts in ensuring such a quick turnaround time in the delivery of the flags and banners.

We hope that the new flags and banners are a welcome addition to the matchday experience and the support of the team.

Munsterism

'It was a performance that revealed a lot to me about the Munster culture. Paul O’Connell is a great leader, but he gets so much support from guys around him. Then there is Munster’s 16th man, their incredible fans.

"We didn’t think we’d have much support in Perpignan, but it was amazing to see, and hear, so many of them in the ground. They really are full-on supporters and they back their team in bad times as well as good.

"The atmosphere they help to create at games, especially at Thomond Park is fantastic. In the smaller grounds in Europe you really feel the crowd. The Munster fans really are our 16th player and it’s great being on the pitch when they are backing you."
